Internship/Thesis oppοrtinities in CBS MPI, Leipzig
The Research Group Cognition and Plasticity at the Max Planck Institute for Human Cognitive and Brain Sciences (MPI CBS) in Leipzig is offering part-time internships (~20 hours/week for approximately 4 months) and/or BSc/MSc thesis oppοrtunities starting as soon as possible. The position is part of the MeMoSLAP study, led by M.Sc. Gerasimos Gerardos and supervised by Prof. Dr. Gesa Hartwigsen. The project is conducted in collaboration with Leipzig University and is part of a broader inter-institutional research network across Germany. The MeMoSLAP study investigates working memory and its neural correlates using focal non-invasive brain stimulation (HD-tDCS) during MRI scanning, to study the real-time effects of brain stimulation on brain activity and cognition.
Tasks that the candidates are expected to be involved in include conducting neuropsychological and cognitive testing, preparing participants for experiments, participant recruitment and scheduling, data organization and management; additional learning opportunities can be discussed depending on their interests and background. Regarding the thesis, specific topics will be developed jointly based on the project’s scope and the student’s interests and background. Candidates are required to be enrolled in a relevant field (e.g., psychology, cognitive neuroscience, neuroscience, or a related discipline), to have strong interest in cognitive and experimental neuroscience, to possess excellent English language skills; German language skills are a plus.
